The OrionLX or LXm can server as a Renewable Energy Integration Processor. All of the electronic devices in the farm – meters, event recorders, relays, other IEDs, solar PV inverters, turbine controls, etc. – are interfaced to Orion through over 30 available communication protocols, using RS232, RS485, Fiber or Ethernet. Orion then simultaneously provides relevant and authorized subsets of SCADA data to the bulk energy provider, balancing authority, local utility and the owner/operator of the facility, each in their specific protocol. Non-operational data is also supplied to the appropriate engineering groups.
Software for this Application
Enables the OrionLX to accept any common time protocol – IRIG-B, DNP3 or NTP – to synchronize its clock and time-stamp events. Also enables the OrionLX to send out IRIG-B, DNP3, NTP or SEL® ASCII to attached IEDs. Includes the NKI Time Interface Module that reports clock accuracy and synchronization status.
Enables the user to create an alternate name for any point in the OrionLX database. Supports load of Alias spreadsheet to reduce typing.
Enables the range of data values originating from IEDs (e.g. -32768 to 32767) to be scaled into a different range for SCADA (e.g. 0 to 4096), Math and Logic, Alarming, etc.
Supports the “mailbox” application, where one Master can write data into the OrionLX database using one protocol and another Master can read these data from the OrionLX database using a different protocol. An example would be a SCADA system writing generation settings using DNP3 and a plant DCS reading these data using Modbus.
Includes points to “sense” OrionLX operating conditions, including internal temperature, power supply health, firewall status, alarm status, modem status, and user login status. These points can be mapped to SCADA, Email, Alarm-Archive, Math and Logic or other applications.
