Alarm Annunciator

The OrionLX or LXm with the Alarm Archive Retentive software option can serve as a substation Alarm Annunciator. Selected analog and discrete data from substation meters, event recorders, relays and other IEDs are accessed and set to trigger an alarm state. A standard tabular alarm webpage, or tile annunciator, presents alarm data to multiple SCADA, engineering, web and mobile clients via secure HTTPS, email and SMS texts. An optional VGA output on the OrionLX provides local visualization of alarm data through a touchscreen HMI, eliminating the need for a substation PC.

Software for this Application

Alarm/Archive/Retentive (AAR)

Stores both discrete and analog events based on time (e.g. every 15 minutes) or change (e.g. ON-OFF or analog change out of deadband). Alarm Annunciation functionality includes defining alarm states, defining alarm messages. Pre-engineered “Archive” and “Alarm” webpages included.

Alias

Enables the user to create an alternate name for any point in the OrionLX database. Supports load of Alias spreadsheet to reduce typing.

Points Blocking

Enables points or groups of points to be manually “blocked” from reporting state changes. Useful during commissioning and maintenance.

PostgreSQL

Open object-relational database management system (ORDBMS) used in the OrionLX to store SOE points, Alarms, Tags, and files in non-volatile Expanded Memory.

Text Generator

Enables the OrionLX to operate as a text  generator for attaching text to numeric-based points based on prioritized conditions or rules. Once the OrionLX processes a numeric point change event, a defined text message is attached to the point, which will result in other modules such as the Email Module or Data Logger Module being notified of a text-based point change event. If the Email Module is set up in conjunction with the Text Module, the defined text change events (e.g. SEL® Event Reports) will be sent as email messages to the groups defined in the Email module.

Time Management

Enables the OrionLX to accept any common time protocol – IRIG-B, DNP3 or NTP – to synchronize its clock and time-stamp events.  Also enables the OrionLX to send out IRIG-B, DNP3, NTP or SEL® ASCII to attached IEDs. Includes the NKI Time Interface Module that reports clock accuracy and synchronization status.

Scheduler

Enables tasks such as Email and FileMover to be scheduled.

Email

Enables OrionLX to send messages (text strings) and attached files (such as SEL® Event Reports and Histories) to individual users or groups of users.

IRIG B Port

50 Ohm coax port receives modulated or unmodulated IRIG-B. IRIG-B can be passed through to serial ports, or if no source, generated.

1GB or 4GB Expanded Memory

Expanded Flash Memory with PostgreSQL Relational Database (4GB included with the High Performance CPU).

OrionLXm Hardware Features for this Application
