CPU Replacement Provides Cyber Security, Cascading Orions, other features

A growing number of Orion5r users have told us, "It sure would be nice to have the software and security features of the OrionLX in my Orion5r.” The new Orion5rL makes that possible.
The Orion5rL is an Orion5r with the OrionLX CPU. With the "bigger engine", the Orion5rL can take on larger applications requiring more connections, more points, more options to disseminate data and more security.
Orion5rL capacities are the same as the OrionLX: up to 96 Ethernet connections, up to 20,000 points and support for the new "Cascaded Orions" option (multiple Orions working together as one system).
Orion5rL security features are also the same as the OrionLX: username and password on front RS-232 port, multiple user groups with individual privileges, firewall, key management, encryption and logging for NERC reports.
All of the software and memory options from the OrionLX are also available on the Orion5rL: Web-based online operations, Email alarms and SEL(R) event records, SQL database, point "aliasing" and expanded memories to 4GB.
With minor editing, current Orion5r configurations will run in the Orion5rL, as they will in an OrionLX. A NovaTech-provided software utility will highlight where changes need to be made (e.g. moving IP addresses, username and password out of NCD).
The Orion5rL is a retrofitted Orion5r, as opposed to a new "model" to be ordered from the factory. Retrofits are intended to be done by users in the field using a complete upgrade kit with video instructions. The procedure takes about 10 minutes and requires no special tools or testing.
