NovaTech, LLC is pleased to announce the release of the Distributed Discrete I/O Module (DDIO).
Its rugged design allows the DDIO module to be installed without any special environmental conditioning and to withstand the wide temperature range and electrical noise commonly found in HV substations.
Mounting the DDIO where the primary connections are made, typically on circuit breakers and transformers, reduces wiring costs in substation monitoring and control applications.
The flexible DDIO can be cabled back to any RTU or PLC supporting the DNP3.0 protocol using an RS232, RS485, fiber optic or Ethernet connection. Combinations of up to 24 inputs or outputs are provided to meet specific requirements.
The DDIO offers high resolution (1mS) time-stamping, an IRIG-B port and independent input circuits in an enclosed package.
Over 100 DDIO modules have been shipped to the first five end users. These shipments included both the 19-inch rack mount and panel/DIN rail mount versions.
According to VP of Marketing, Ray Wright, “Our customers have been requesting a rugged, distributed 125VDC I/O module for transmission substations that can also time-stamp events to 1mS. DDIO delivers on all counts, and is a great compliment to the NovaTech Orion RTU.”
