Bitronics® MultiComm, PowerPlex, Watt/VAR and Triplex
MultiComm Digital Power Meter
The MultiComm instrument is a utility-grade, three-phase, digital power meter that connects directly to instrument transformers. Direct-connect high-voltage inputs are also available. The design and components are field-proven in the substation environment with all inputs transformer isolated.
Documentation
The multiple microprocessor design uses advanced digital signal processing for true RMS measurements including power. This instrument is a multifunction meter that calculates and displays Voltages, Currents, Power (real, reactive, apparent), Power Factor, Frequency, and Energy Values. Real-time Harmonics, K-Factor, Displacement Power Factor, and Demand measurements with Min/Max memory are also available.
The MultiComm instrument is an Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) and stores these measured values in internal registers for serial communication access. The 120V ac input meters, with AC power supply option, meet IEC standard 1010 and are certified by Underwriters Laboratory to meet UL and CSA standards.
- Simultaneous display of all phases
- Push-button, in-field scaling from library of ANSI CT and PT
ratios, with non-volatile memory requires no batteries for
settings retention - Modular construction simplifies maintenance
- One RS-232, RS-485, or Modbus plus Port
- Transducer Outputs: 0-1mA or 4-20mA
PowerPlex Digital Transducer
The PowerPlex instrument is a utility-grade, three-phase, digital power transducer that connects directly to instrument transformers. Direct-connect high-voltage inputs are also available. The design and components are field-proven in the substation environment with all inputs transformer isolated.
The multiple microprocessor design uses advanced digital signal processing for true RMS measurements including power. This instrument is a multifunction transducer that calculates and displays Voltages, Currents, Power (real, reactive, apparent), Power Factor, Frequency, and Energy Values. Real-time Harmonics, K-Factor, Displacement Power Factor, and Demand measurements with Min/Max memory are also available.

The family includes an RTS model with a separate reference voltage to calculate the phase angle to system voltage for synchronizing. The RTS high speed measurements and communications are ideally suited for gen-set applications.
- Selectable element switch
- Transducer Outputs: 0-1mA or 4-20mA
Watt/VAR Metersback to top
The 3-phase Watt/VAR meter, receives three current inputs and three voltage inputs (4-wire systems) or 2 current inputs and 2 voltage inputs (3-wire systems), then simultaneously displays the total True Watts and VARs. The 3-phase Wattmeter or the 3-phase VARmeter receive the same inputs as the Watt/VAR meter but only display the total True Watts or the Total VARs, respectively. Transducer outputs, 0 to 1mA dc or 4 to 20mA dc, are available. Either option provides an output channel for each measurement displayed.
- Simultaneous display of total Watts, Total VARs or other combinations
- Push-button, in-field scaling
- Non-volatile memory requires no batteries for settings retention
- Modular construction simplifies maintenance
- Optional transducer outputs: 0-1mA or 4-20mA
TriPlex Meters
The Bitronics TriPlex Ammeters and Voltmeters use a microprocessor to calculate true RMS quantities by sampling and digitizing the voltage or current on each phase, several times per cycle. Three-phase and single-phase models are available, all with bright, easy-to-read LED displays. It has a built-in self-diagnostic system and does not require periodic maintenance. Housed in a rugged aluminum 4-inch round case, TriPlex is certified to meet UL and CSA standards on AC powered units.
- Simultaneous display of all phases
- Non-volatile memory requires no batteries for settings retention
- Modular construction simplifies maintenance
- Optional transducer outputs: 0-1mA or 4-20mA
- Push-button, in-field caling
